Reverencing the Holy Place
Greetings Fountain of Life Family and Friends! I would like to share with you what I believe to be the leading of the Holy Spirit regarding our preparations for morning worship.
We have a rich tradition of fellowship and familial interaction at Fountain of Life. This is pleasing to the Lord and should be cherished, protected, and continued. Our times of fun and fellowship are a large reason so many of us feel welcome and loved by our brethren.
However, I believe that we should also value, protect, and seek the sanctity of our place of worship. The morning worship which takes place in the sanctuary should be focused, united, and holy. We call it a sanctuary because it is the place of safety and separation from the worldly entanglements of the week. Quite simply, it is where we gather together in one accord to worship the Lord, and to ''wait for the promise of the Father''.
Several months ago, we all met in the fellowship hall before morning worship to greet and converse about various topics of interest. Then, with purpose and unity, we entered the sanctuary and presented ourselves to God as living sacrifices of worship. The Holy Spirit moved that day. Many of you have commented that it was one of the more memorable worship experiences of your lives.
I believe the time has come for us to employ a similar attitude in our approach to worship. Let us always remember that when we come to worship, we come to Almighty God. This is a serious matter indeed! It does not mean that we must not be joyous are light-hearted; it does mean that we must be focused, in one accord, and serious about communing with God Himself. The sanctuary is not the place for idle words, distracted minds, or pointless activity. God is desiring to ''pour out the Spirit on all flesh''. If we are to receive this promise from the Father, we must be as sincere and eager to seek Him as He is to meet with us.
Let us prepare ourselves before entering the holy sanctuary of God, so that when we enter, we do so with purpose, reverence, and expectation. God will meet with us in His mighty power. He beckons to us. Let us answer the call!
In Christ, Pastor Marc
